Market Maker Surveillance Report. SHLD, AMS, GBSN, CCCL, QHC, FRTA, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Monday, May 1
May 15, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 5448 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3985 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1984 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Sears Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ:SHLD), American Shared Hospital Services (NYSE:AMS), Great Basin Scientific Inc. (OTC:GBSN), China Ceramics Co., Ltd. (NASDAQ:CCCL), Quorum Health Corporation (NYSE:QHC), Forterra Inc. (NASDAQ:FRTA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction SHLD $-1.180 -0.12% 842,807 34.38% 879,939 35.89% -37,132 -315 AMS $-0.580 -0.13% 84,342 39.58% 89,133 41.83% -4,791 -83 GBSN $-0.210 -0.16% 76,424 43.12% 97,153 54.82% -20,729 -987 CCCL $-0.200 -0.12% 34,827 27.36% 53,824 42.29% -18,997 -950 QHC $-0.750 -0.19% 377,598 31.25% 491,532 40.68% -113,934 -1,519 FRTA $-4.790 -0.24% 1,787,036 36.22% 2,056,828 41.69% -269,792 -563Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows SHLD with a dollar loss Monday of $-1.18000 and a Friction Factor of -315 shares. That means that it only took 315 more shares of selling than buying to move SHLD lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
