Market Maker Surveillance Report. TWTR, HRB, VZ, GLW, GDX, UVXY, Bullishly Biased Price Friction For Tuesday, May 2nd 2017
May 2, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 5479 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2998 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2911 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR), H&R Block Inc. (NYSE:HRB), Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ), Corning Inc. (NYSE:GLW), Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:GDX), PowerShares Exchange-Traded Fund Trust II (NYSE:UVXY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction TWTR $0.670 0.04% 22,645,844 35.33% 25,304,946 39.48% -2,659,102 Abnormal HRB $0.140 0.01% 569,129 18.73% 1,725,846 56.79% -1,156,717 Abnormal VZ $0.030 0.00% 3,474,247 27.85% 5,320,970 42.65% -1,846,723 Abnormal GLW $0.050 0.00% 1,889,360 28.94% 3,116,575 47.73% -1,227,215 Abnormal GDX $0.140 0.01% 12,845,163 29.72% 19,279,929 44.61% -6,434,766 Abnormal UVXY $0.200 0.02% 6,624,803 32.07% 7,823,522 37.88% -1,198,719 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows TWTR with 2,659,102 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.67000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
