May 1, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 5560 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3043 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2841 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Utilities Select Sector SPDR (NYSE:XLU), General Motors Company (NYSE:GM), Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (NYSE:XLP), Weatherford International Ltd. (NYSE:WFT), Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:GDX), MARKET VECTORS ETF TRJR GOLD MINES (NYSE:GDXJ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  XLU $-0.340 -0.01% 3,585,023 32.57% 2,558,102 23.24% 1,026,921 Abnormal
  GM $-0.350 -0.01% 6,689,068 45.62% 3,290,338 22.44% 3,398,730 Abnormal
  XLP $-0.210 -0.00% 3,793,283 32.59% 2,183,854 18.76% 1,609,429 Abnormal
  WFT $-0.300 -0.05% 14,343,837 41.69% 9,494,337 27.59% 4,849,500 Abnormal
  GDX $-0.560 -0.03% 33,725,201 34.19% 18,892,027 19.15% 14,833,174 Abnormal
  GDXJ $-0.910 -0.03% 18,018,946 35.73% 5,044,845 10.00% 12,974,101 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Monday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows XLU with 1,026,921 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.34000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
