March 21, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 5211 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1602 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4750 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Utilities Select Sector SPDR (NYSE:XLU), The Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:KO), Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc. (NYSE:VRX), Pain Therapeutics (NASDAQ:PTIE), MARKET VECTORS ETF TRJR GOLD MINES (NYSE:GDXJ), Direxion Trust Shs Direxion Daily Junior Gold Miners Index Bull 3X ETF (NYSE:JNUG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  XLU $0.010 0.00% 5,569,900 26.75% 6,492,633 31.18% -922,733 Abnormal
  KO $0.320 0.01% 4,016,307 22.26% 6,812,936 37.75% -2,796,629 Abnormal
  VRX $0.110 0.01% 6,535,414 32.19% 7,988,166 39.34% -1,452,752 Abnormal
  PTIE $0.340 0.50% 11,348,564 34.51% 13,370,105 40.65% -2,021,541 Abnormal
  GDXJ $0.560 0.02% 5,433,547 22.25% 8,167,271 33.44% -2,733,724 Abnormal
  JNUG $0.230 0.03% 32,037,185 38.82% 33,150,815 40.17% -1,113,630 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows XLU with 922,733 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.01000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
