March 16, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 5561 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3422 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2421 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. iPass Inc. (NASDAQ:IPAS), Danaos Corporation (NYSE:DAC), TOP Ships Inc. (NASDAQ:TOPS), Galectin Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:GALT), Cancer Genetics (NASDAQ:CGIX), Ocular Therapeutix (NASDAQ:OCUL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  IPAS $0.180 0.18% 247,565 41.05% 237,533 39.38% 10,032 557
  DAC $0.250 0.15% 86,397 57.07% 26,339 17.40% 60,058 2,402
  TOPS $1.140 1.09% 9,840,831 37.65% 9,736,169 37.25% 104,662 918
  GALT $0.250 0.13% 552,975 43.61% 459,992 36.28% 92,983 3,719
  CGIX $0.350 0.16% 126,127 41.68% 104,257 34.46% 21,870 625
  OCUL $1.170 0.13% 1,000,240 39.59% 912,541 36.11% 87,699 750
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows IPAS with a dollar gain Thursday of $0.18000 and a Friction Factor of 557 shares. That means that it only took 557 more shares of buying than selling to move IPAS higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
