March 9, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 5480 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2217 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3789 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. China Auto Logistics Inc. (NASDAQ:CALI), Finisar Corporation (NASDAQ:FNSR), Tidewater Inc. (NYSE:TDW), InspireMD Inc. (NYSE:NSPR), Actinium Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NYSE:ATNM), Surgery Partners Inc. (NASDAQ:SGRY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  CALI $-0.430 -0.21% 88,477 37.27% 98,374 41.44% -9,897 -230
  FNSR $-7.060 -0.21% 1,949,435 37.21% 1,983,267 37.86% -33,832 -48
  TDW $-0.190 -0.16% 1,552,573 36.58% 1,709,105 40.27% -156,532 -8,239
  NSPR $-0.740 -0.38% 604,871 34.55% 660,885 37.75% -56,014 -757
  ATNM $-0.200 -0.13% 133,088 17.30% 532,855 69.28% -399,767 -19,988
  SGRY $-3.000 -0.14% 79,337 35.12% 84,989 37.63% -5,652 -19
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CALI with a dollar loss Thursday of $-0.43000 and a Friction Factor of -230 shares. That means that it only took 230 more shares of selling than buying to move CALI lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
