March 7, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 5412 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2004 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4076 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Tuesday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Utilities Select Sector SPDR (NYSE:XLU), SPDR S&P 500 (NYSE:SPY), Bank of America Corporation (NYSE:BAC), Xerox Corporation (NYSE:XRX), Hanesbrands Inc. (NYSE:HBI), Seadrill Limited (NYSE:SDRL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  XLU $-0.060 -0.00% 2,651,145 12.22% 11,497,864 53.01% -8,846,719 -1,474,453
  SPY $-0.680 -0.00% 13,537,491 22.22% 20,885,991 34.29% -7,348,500 -108,066
  BAC $-0.030 -0.00% 22,453,639 34.33% 25,912,970 39.61% -3,459,331 -1,153,110
  XRX $-0.150 -0.02% 3,969,315 27.94% 7,881,380 55.49% -3,912,065 -260,804
  HBI $-0.450 -0.02% 1,314,839 13.59% 5,000,605 51.68% -3,685,766 -81,906
  SDRL $-0.150 -0.12% 12,193,552 38.01% 15,053,399 46.93% -2,859,847 -190,656
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows XLU down $-0.06000 with a Friction Factor of -1,474,453 and a Net Volume of -8,846,719. That means that it takes 1,474,453 more shares of selling than buying to drop XLU by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
