Market Maker Surveillance Report. LBY, ICFI, OROCF, CEMP, I, HTGM, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Tuesday, Febru
February 28, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 5660 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1936 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4054 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Libbey Inc. (NYSE:LBY), ICF International Inc. (NASDAQ:ICFI), OROCOBRE LTD (OTC:OROCF), Cempra Inc. (NASDAQ:CEMP), Intelsat S.A. (NYSE:I), HTG Molecular Diagnostics (NASDAQ:HTGM). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction LBY $-2.850 -0.17% 174,271 25.25% 253,501 36.74% -79,230 -278 ICFI $-8.450 -0.17% 175,324 29.00% 192,170 31.79% -16,846 -20 OROCF $-0.375 -0.13% 130,470 55.14% 157,743 66.66% -27,273 -728 CEMP $-0.850 -0.20% 1,944,717 34.79% 2,136,537 38.22% -191,820 -2,257 I $-0.890 -0.15% 2,148,759 31.21% 2,702,454 39.26% -553,695 -6,221 HTGM $-0.450 -0.14% 975,325 37.13% 1,033,573 39.35% -58,248 -1,294Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows LBY with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-2.85000 and a Friction Factor of -278 shares. That means that it only took 278 more shares of selling than buying to move LBY lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
