February 24, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 5667 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2792 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3100 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. iShares Dow Jones U.S. Real Estate Index Fund (NYSE:IYR), Fitbit Inc. (NYSE:FIT), HP Inc. (NYSE:HPQ), Industrials Select Sector SPDR (NYSE:XLI), Exelon Corporation (NYSE:EXC), MGM Resorts International (NYSE:MGM). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  IYR $0.450 0.01% 1,780,506 25.01% 2,595,838 36.46% -815,332 Abnormal
  FIT $0.030 0.01% 5,478,268 33.08% 6,333,376 38.24% -855,108 Abnormal
  HPQ $0.050 0.00% 5,127,013 25.58% 7,226,180 36.05% -2,099,167 Abnormal
  XLI $0.270 0.00% 3,572,809 28.88% 4,417,399 35.71% -844,590 Abnormal
  EXC $1.200 0.03% 1,905,988 22.92% 3,118,389 37.50% -1,212,401 Abnormal
  MGM $0.260 0.01% 2,544,724 22.35% 4,420,253 38.82% -1,875,529 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Friday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows IYR with 815,332 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.45000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
