February 23, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 5540 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2885 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3125 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Financial Select Sector SPDR (NYSE:XLF), SPDR S&P 500 (NYSE:SPY), Reynolds American Inc (NYSE:RAI), Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD), Barclays Bank iPath Exch Traded Nts 2009-30.1.19 iPath S&P 500 VIX Short Term Futures Ser A (NYSE:VXX), MARKET VECTORS ETF TRJR GOLD MINES (NYSE:GDXJ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  XLF $0.010 0.00% 15,603,077 29.28% 18,757,108 35.20% -3,154,031 Abnormal
  SPY $0.180 0.00% 17,031,320 24.82% 18,768,567 27.36% -1,737,247 Abnormal
  RAI $0.600 0.01% 1,268,171 11.52% 4,825,324 43.85% -3,557,153 Abnormal
  AMD $0.040 0.00% 29,016,835 36.70% 32,551,265 41.17% -3,534,430 Abnormal
  VXX $0.460 0.03% 17,862,959 31.44% 19,935,043 35.09% -2,072,084 Abnormal
  GDXJ $0.220 0.01% 3,760,191 22.79% 6,403,807 38.82% -2,643,616 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Thursday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows XLF with 3,154,031 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.01000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
