Market Maker Surveillance Report. XLU, EWG, RAI, GDX, EPI, ACWV, Bullishly Biased Price Friction For Thursday, February 16th 2
February 16, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 5461 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2715 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3322 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Utilities Select Sector SPDR (NYSE:XLU), iShares MSCI Germany Index Fund (NYSE:EWG), Reynolds American Inc (NYSE:RAI), Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:GDX), WisdomTree India Earnings Fund ETF (NYSE:EPI), iSh MSCI ACWMV Shs (NYSE:ACWV). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction XLU $0.490 0.01% 3,524,899 26.21% 5,346,246 39.76% -1,821,347 Abnormal EWG $0.150 0.01% 1,087,488 22.28% 2,745,882 56.26% -1,658,394 Abnormal RAI $0.040 0.00% 1,181,240 18.02% 3,086,858 47.10% -1,905,618 Abnormal GDX $0.260 0.01% 15,981,475 34.81% 21,864,082 47.63% -5,882,607 Abnormal EPI $0.130 0.01% 1,063,571 20.17% 2,514,494 47.69% -1,450,923 Abnormal ACWV $0.200 0.00% 48,538 1.77% 1,678,991 61.15% -1,630,453 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Thursday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows XLU with 1,821,347 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.49000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
