February 14, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 5506 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3236 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2765 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Bioanalytical Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:BASI), LightPath Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:LPTH), Cynosure Inc. (NASDAQ:CYNO), Identive Group Inc. (NASDAQ:INVE), Function(x) Inc. (NASDAQ:FNCX), Bellerophon Therapeutics (NASDAQ:BLPH). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BASI $0.390 0.43% 291,030 39.38% 256,982 34.77% 34,048 873 LPTH $0.470 0.28% 798,477 40.53% 761,874 38.67% 36,603 779 CYNO $14.450 0.28% 6,327,024 46.97% 4,497,485 33.38% 1,829,539 1,266 INVE $1.020 0.22% 116,539 41.63% 87,306 31.18% 29,233 287 FNCX $1.040 0.48% 42,826 42.74% 32,276 32.21% 10,550 101 BLPH $0.250 0.34% 2,999,354 36.80% 2,862,496 35.12% 136,858 5,474Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BASI with a dollar gain Tuesday of $0.39000 and a Friction Factor of 873 shares. That means that it only took 873 more shares of buying than selling to move BASI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
