February 6, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 5731 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2377 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3415 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE), Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:GDX), PIMCO 1-5 Year US TIPS Index ETF (NYSE:STPZ), NXP Semiconductors N.V. (NASDAQ:NXPI), Direxion Daily Gold Miners Bull 3X Shares (NYSE:NUGT), Marathon Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:MPC). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  PFE $0.130 0.00% 6,092,460 23.06% 8,985,109 34.00% -2,892,649 Abnormal
  GDX $0.910 0.04% 22,776,248 25.14% 30,867,099 34.06% -8,090,851 Abnormal
  STPZ $0.040 0.00% 30,032 1.80% 1,622,169 97.04% -1,592,137 Abnormal
  NXPI $0.840 0.01% 1,386,607 11.00% 8,463,536 67.16% -7,076,929 Abnormal
  NUGT $1.360 0.11% 19,866,260 36.31% 22,022,636 40.25% -2,156,376 Abnormal
  MPC $0.210 0.00% 806,526 8.32% 3,792,612 39.11% -2,986,086 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Monday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows PFE with 2,892,649 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.13000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
