January 27, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 5624 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2690 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3177 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. DryShips Inc. (NASDAQ:DRYS), Enbridge Energy Management L.L.C. (NYSE:EEQ), Freeman Corporation Ltd (OTC:INNMF), PetroGas Co (OTC:PTCO), Athersys Inc. (NASDAQ:ATHX), Peabody Energy Corp (PINK:BTUUQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  DRYS $-0.990 -0.33% 10,102,133 35.60% 10,583,384 37.29% -481,251 -4,861
  EEQ $-5.600 -0.22% 503,959 32.31% 504,659 32.35% -700 -1
  INNMF $-0.300 -0.20% 667,227 42.27% 910,521 57.68% -243,294 -8,110
  PTCO $-3.440 -0.64% 600,528 40.49% 667,202 44.98% -66,674 -194
  ATHX $-0.370 -0.24% 4,555,225 40.51% 4,620,889 41.09% -65,664 -1,775
  BTUUQ $-1.080 -0.38% 1,589,781 41.71% 2,062,517 54.11% -472,736 -4,377
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DRYS with a dollar loss Friday of $-0.99000 and a Friction Factor of -4,861 shares. That means that it only took 4,861 more shares of selling than buying to move DRYS lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
