January 9, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 5540 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2606 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3573 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. GenVec, Inc. (NASDAQ:GNVC), EXACT Sciences Corporation (NASDAQ:EXAS), ARIAD Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ:ARIA), NewLink Genetics Corporation (NASDAQ:NLNK), Viking Therapeutics (NASDAQ:VKTX), Diffusion Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ:DFFN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  GNVC $1.270 0.35% 216,567 39.81% 172,991 31.80% 43,576 343
  EXAS $3.140 0.21% 4,433,788 41.49% 3,599,162 33.68% 834,626 2,658
  ARIA $10.010 0.73% 58,173,712 40.86% 57,524,458 40.41% 649,254 649
  NLNK $1.990 0.18% 404,966 36.53% 398,784 35.97% 6,182 31
  VKTX $0.390 0.31% 657,871 43.68% 587,944 39.04% 69,927 1,793
  DFFN $3.440 1.67% 240,056 39.07% 211,794 34.47% 28,262 82
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows GNVC with a dollar gain Monday of $1.27000 and a Friction Factor of 343 shares. That means that it only took 343 more shares of buying than selling to move GNVC higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
