November 14, 2016 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 5638 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3173 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3087 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. iShares Russell 2000 Index Fund (NYSE:IWM), Bank of America Corporation (NYSE:BAC), Transocean Ltd. (NYSE:RIG), Regions Financial Corporation (NYSE:RF), United States Oil Fund, LP (NYSE:USO), Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:GDX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  IWM $1.690 0.01% 16,764,630 20.79% 24,894,127 30.87% -8,129,497 Abnormal
  BAC $1.100 0.06% 102,592,233 32.20% 120,746,585 37.90% -18,154,352 Abnormal
  RIG $0.260 0.03% 5,947,911 28.17% 9,986,990 47.30% -4,039,079 Abnormal
  RF $0.820 0.07% 15,293,131 30.81% 19,108,732 38.49% -3,815,601 Abnormal
  USO $0.070 0.01% 16,287,233 36.42% 21,137,277 47.26% -4,850,044 Abnormal
  GDX $0.240 0.01% 28,583,523 22.24% 49,793,378 38.74% -21,209,855 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Monday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows IWM with 8,129,497 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $1.69000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
