September 23, 2016 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 5626 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2128 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3690 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Marriott International (NASDAQ:MAR), VANGUARD FINANCIALS ETF (NYSE:VFH), iShares MSCI EAFE Index (NYSE:EFA), iShares MSCI Japan Index Fund (NYSE:EWJ), Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:APC), Alibaba Group Holding (NYSE:BABA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  MAR $-1.170 -0.02% 5,652,586 48.60% 2,204,962 18.96% 3,447,624 Abnormal
  VFH $-0.350 -0.01% 2,759,290 27.73% 389,760 3.92% 2,369,530 Abnormal
  EFA $-0.360 -0.01% 9,053,618 44.45% 5,045,664 24.77% 4,007,954 Abnormal
  EWJ $-0.180 -0.01% 8,639,792 37.99% 5,428,865 23.87% 3,210,927 Abnormal
  APC $-1.710 -0.03% 5,681,913 49.80% 2,783,108 24.39% 2,898,805 Abnormal
  BABA $-1.640 -0.02% 7,800,895 33.86% 6,071,876 26.36% 1,729,019 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Friday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MAR with 3,447,624 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-1.17000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
