Market Maker Surveillance Report. AAPL, SDS, ISIL, QLTI, VXX, ZNGA, Bullishly Biased Price Friction For Tuesday, September 13t
September 13, 2016 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4951 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1127 companies with positive Friction Factors and 5429 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), ProShares UltraShort S&P500 (NYSE:SDS), Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ:ISIL), QLT Inc. (NASDAQ:QLTI), Barclays Bank iPath Exch Traded Nts 2009-30.1.19 iPath S&P 500 VIX Short Term Futures Ser A (NYSE:VXX), Zynga Inc. (NASDAQ:ZNGA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction AAPL $2.630 0.03% 18,925,964 30.78% 21,038,203 34.22% -2,112,239 Abnormal SDS $0.470 0.03% 7,681,328 34.52% 8,569,395 38.51% -888,067 Abnormal ISIL $1.950 0.10% 21,945,321 38.24% 23,802,078 41.48% -1,856,757 Abnormal QLTI $0.060 0.04% 59,576 6.41% 775,125 83.35% -715,549 Abnormal VXX $4.800 0.13% 26,490,362 24.63% 27,850,740 25.90% -1,360,378 Abnormal ZNGA $0.020 0.01% 7,512,688 37.72% 8,504,633 42.69% -991,945 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows AAPL with 2,112,239 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $2.63000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
