May 8, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3804 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3315 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2086 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. CSP Inc (NASDAQ:CSPI), Syntroleum Corp (NASDAQ:SYNM), National Bank of Greece SA (NYSE:NBG), Alexza Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:ALXA), Affymax Inc (NASDAQ:AFFY), Pioneer Southwest Energy Partners LP (NYSE:PSE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  CSPI $1.620 27.80% 198,834 59.13% 137,310 40.84% 61,524 380
  SYNM $1.350 32.45% 263,141 53.34% 228,762 46.37% 34,379 255
  NBG $0.230 22.77% 4,293,920 38.50% 3,633,232 32.58% 660,688 28,726
  ALXA $1.010 23.22% 4,593,078 51.35% 4,305,501 48.13% 287,577 2,847
  AFFY $0.270 23.48% 20,413,986 50.13% 20,283,331 49.81% 130,655 4,839
  PSE $5.310 20.38% 2,043,410 29.98% 2,018,081 29.61% 25,329 48
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CSPI with a dollar gain Wednesday of $1.62000 and a Friction Factor of 380 shares. That means that it only took 380 more shares of buying than selling to move CSPI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
