May 2, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3796 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3526 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1770 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Thursday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Alpha Natural Resources Inc (NYSE:ANR), Sirius XM Radio Inc (NASDAQ:SIRI), Groupon Inc (NASDAQ:GRPN), Vale SA (NYSE:VALE), Kodiak Oil & Gas Corp (NYSE:KOG), Clearwire Corp (NASDAQ:CLWR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  ANR $-0.440 -5.89% 8,258,251 30.42% 9,606,700 35.39% -1,348,449 -30,647
  SIRI $-0.060 -1.67% 20,828,886 47.56% 22,956,820 52.42% -2,127,934 -354,656
  GRPN $-0.130 -2.17% 4,992,553 43.07% 6,583,505 56.79% -1,590,952 -122,381
  VALE $-0.060 -0.37% 4,457,977 23.70% 7,302,429 38.83% -2,844,452 -474,075
  KOG $-0.200 -2.63% 2,994,773 31.86% 4,323,338 45.99% -1,328,565 -66,428
  CLWR $-0.030 -0.91% 4,082,487 38.64% 6,483,604 61.36% -2,401,117 -800,372
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ANR down $-0.44000 with a Friction Factor of -30,647 and a Net Volume of -1,348,449. That means that it takes 30,647 more shares of selling than buying to drop ANR by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
