April 30, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3565 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3243 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1909 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. On Track Innovations Ltd (NASDAQ:OTIV), CGI GROUP INC - CLASS A (NYSE:GIB), Pain Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:PTIE), Multimedia Games Holding Company Inc (NASDAQ:MGAM), Meritor Inc (NYSE:MTOR), TRANSITION THERAPEUTICS INC (NASDAQ:TTHI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  OTIV $0.170 19.64% 426,389 60.90% 273,798 39.10% 152,591 8,976
  GIB $4.880 18.26% 348,138 30.65% 309,796 27.28% 38,342 79
  PTIE $0.860 26.32% 1,380,951 56.02% 1,075,176 43.62% 305,775 3,556
  MGAM $4.490 22.25% 849,995 49.67% 841,681 49.18% 8,314 19
  MTOR $1.060 22.23% 3,429,402 35.46% 3,313,008 34.25% 116,394 1,098
  TTHI $0.850 37.78% 1,243,208 51.70% 1,142,208 47.50% 101,000 1,188
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows OTIV with a dollar gain Tuesday of $0.17000 and a Friction Factor of 8,976 shares. That means that it only took 8,976 more shares of buying than selling to move OTIV higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
