April 30, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3565 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3243 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1909 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. CNH Global NV (NYSE:CNH), Arkansas Best Corp (NASDAQ:ABFS), MELA Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:MELA), Aveo Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:AVEO), Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Ltd (NASDAQ:AOSL), Mecox Lane Ltd (NASDAQ:MCOX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  CNH $-4.240 -9.35% 734,905 34.04% 836,028 38.72% -101,123 -238
  ABFS $-1.040 -9.00% 244,157 46.35% 281,709 53.48% -37,552 -361
  MELA $-0.300 -23.44% 417,908 38.01% 681,625 61.99% -263,717 -8,791
  AVEO $-2.330 -31.36% 7,468,504 48.53% 7,850,049 51.01% -381,545 -1,638
  AOSL $-1.360 -15.81% 202,977 32.70% 417,633 67.27% -214,656 -1,578
  MCOX $-0.590 -15.05% 112,438 42.47% 151,189 57.11% -38,751 -657
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CNH with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-4.24000 and a Friction Factor of -238 shares. That means that it only took 238 more shares of selling than buying to move CNH lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
