April 26, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3831 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2102 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3066 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Nokia Oyj (NYSE:NOK), DISH NETWORK CORPORATION (NASDAQ:DISH), JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:JPM), Sprint Nextel Corp (NYSE:S), Hancock Holding Co (NASDAQ:HBHC), Textron Inc (NYSE:TXT). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  NOK $-0.040 -1.21% 8,638,052 38.35% 7,407,504 32.89% 1,230,548 Abnormal
  DISH $-0.170 -0.42% 3,225,062 72.87% 1,187,403 26.83% 2,037,659 Abnormal
  JPM $-0.210 -0.43% 5,684,925 41.09% 3,307,959 23.91% 2,376,966 Abnormal
  S $-0.020 -0.27% 24,658,683 31.42% 21,689,354 27.63% 2,969,329 Abnormal
  HBHC $-2.890 -9.79% 2,029,760 65.04% 1,071,700 34.34% 958,060 Abnormal
  TXT $-0.220 -0.85% 2,287,189 39.50% 1,278,618 22.08% 1,008,571 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Friday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows NOK with 1,230,548 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.04000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
