April 25, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3963 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3342 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1941 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. ITT EDUCATIONAL SERVICES INC (NYSE:ESI), Stamps.com Inc (NASDAQ:STMP), Federal-Mogul Corp (NASDAQ:FDML), Global Geophysical Services Inc (NYSE:GGS), Lentuo International Inc (NYSE:LAS), Angie's List Inc (NASDAQ:ANGI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  ESI $4.670 30.46% 1,138,763 31.56% 987,668 27.37% 151,095 324
  STMP $6.920 26.98% 911,387 51.36% 861,838 48.57% 49,549 72
  FDML $1.240 21.49% 581,969 53.25% 501,136 45.86% 80,833 652
  GGS $1.600 74.77% 1,230,933 36.79% 1,071,423 32.02% 159,510 997
  LAS $0.480 24.18% 57,717 39.47% 39,520 27.02% 18,197 379
  ANGI $5.610 27.90% 3,847,449 54.60% 3,131,794 44.44% 715,655 1,276
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ESI with a dollar gain Thursday of $4.67000 and a Friction Factor of 324 shares. That means that it only took 324 more shares of buying than selling to move ESI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
