April 25, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3963 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3342 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1941 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Echo Global Logistics Inc (NASDAQ:ECHO), Desarrolladora Homex SAB de CV (NYSE:HXM), PERKINELMER INCORPORATED (NYSE:PKI), Exide Technologies (NASDAQ:XIDE), Anacor Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:ANAC), (NYSE:DSLV). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  ECHO $-2.840 -13.96% 450,676 48.78% 470,779 50.96% -20,103 -71
  HXM $-0.870 -12.18% 490,468 25.16% 541,708 27.79% -51,240 -589
  PKI $-4.250 -12.53% 173,537 17.16% 429,301 42.45% -255,764 -602
  XIDE $-0.300 -22.39% 4,814,007 47.16% 5,392,732 52.84% -578,725 -19,291
  ANAC $-1.090 -14.95% 393,709 41.95% 542,609 57.81% -148,900 -1,366
  DSLV $-7.760 -14.99% 117,913 27.39% 130,253 30.26% -12,340 -16
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ECHO with a dollar loss Thursday of $-2.84000 and a Friction Factor of -71 shares. That means that it only took 71 more shares of selling than buying to move ECHO lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
