April 23, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3799 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3653 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1751 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Dell Inc (NASDAQ:DELL), GILEAD SCIENCES, INC. (NASDAQ:GILD), AT&T Inc (NYSE:T), Arch Coal Inc (NYSE:ACI), Xerox Corp (NYSE:XRX), Staples Inc (NASDAQ:SPLS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  DELL $-0.140 -1.06% 28,129,738 54.80% 22,994,197 44.80% 5,135,541 Abnormal
  GILD $-0.230 -0.43% 7,542,309 54.71% 5,980,915 43.38% 1,561,394 Abnormal
  T $-0.280 -0.72% 8,034,304 32.79% 7,086,047 28.92% 948,257 Abnormal
  ACI $-0.320 -6.54% 9,350,554 31.76% 8,326,274 28.28% 1,024,280 Abnormal
  XRX $-0.160 -1.85% 7,340,877 35.51% 5,733,463 27.74% 1,607,414 Abnormal
  SPLS $-0.470 -3.61% 10,433,473 52.21% 9,353,965 46.80% 1,079,508 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DELL with 5,135,541 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.14000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
