April 22, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4011 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2610 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2394 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Desarrolladora Homex SAB de CV (NYSE:HXM), SOLOMON GOLD CORP (NASDAQ:SGOC), Kandi Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:KNDI), Apricus Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:APRI), (NYSE:UGAZ), (:OMTH). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction HXM $-0.950 -11.61% 1,477,695 24.08% 2,085,270 33.98% -607,575 -6,396 SGOC $-0.160 -12.60% 83,632 46.66% 95,588 53.34% -11,956 -747 KNDI $-0.270 -7.05% 42,335 30.75% 95,355 69.25% -53,020 -1,964 APRI $-0.200 -7.41% 137,197 45.73% 162,836 54.27% -25,639 -1,282 UGAZ $-3.730 -9.28% 85,353 38.44% 107,705 48.50% -22,352 -60 OMTH $-0.900 -12.26% 95,152 36.22% 162,538 61.87% -67,386 -749Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows HXM with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.95000 and a Friction Factor of -6,396 shares. That means that it only took 6,396 more shares of selling than buying to move HXM lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
