April 19, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3968 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3229 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1858 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. PRGX Global Inc (NASDAQ:PRGX), Acacia Research Corp (NASDAQ:ACTG), Velti PLC (NASDAQ:VELT), Genco Shipping and Trading Ltd (NYSE:GNK), China Information Technology Inc (NASDAQ:CNIT), (OTC:OCTX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  PRGX $-1.000 -15.97% 622,736 45.65% 739,623 54.21% -116,887 -1,169
  ACTG $-8.190 -27.70% 2,863,171 48.25% 3,023,442 50.95% -160,271 -196
  VELT $-0.160 -9.41% 1,501,035 47.77% 1,641,181 52.23% -140,146 -8,759
  GNK $-0.170 -9.50% 541,491 28.03% 603,549 31.24% -62,058 -3,650
  CNIT $-0.160 -13.68% 471,975 37.99% 770,526 62.01% -298,551 -18,659
  OCTX $-2.900 -31.87% 196,675 18.09% 219,562 20.19% -22,887 -79
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows PRGX with a dollar loss Friday of $-1.00000 and a Friction Factor of -1,169 shares. That means that it only took 1,169 more shares of selling than buying to move PRGX lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
