April 18, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4037 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1930 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3188 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Thursday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. ArcelorMittal (NYSE:MT), THERAVANCE, INC. (NASDAQ:THRX), Procter & Gamble Co (NYSE:PG), Talisman Energy Inc (NYSE:TLM), Murphy Oil Corp (NYSE:MUR), Corning Inc (NYSE:GLW). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  MT $0.010 0.09% 2,917,752 34.32% 1,895,999 22.30% 1,021,753 1,021,753
  THRX $4.550 16.24% 4,706,627 54.39% 3,716,437 42.95% 990,190 2,176
  PG $0.810 1.02% 3,756,764 34.60% 2,566,208 23.63% 1,190,556 14,698
  TLM $0.120 1.06% 2,037,756 32.54% 1,373,774 21.94% 663,982 55,332
  MUR $0.950 1.58% 1,101,500 49.14% 503,135 22.45% 598,365 6,299
  GLW $0.020 0.12% 6,906,404 31.18% 5,127,637 23.15% 1,778,767 889,384
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MT with a Net Buy Volume of 1,021,753 shares and a Friction Factor of 1,021,753 shares. That means that it takes 1,021,753 more shares of buying than selling to move MT higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Thursday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
