April 18, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4037 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1930 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3188 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Air Methods Corp (NASDAQ:AIRM), UniTek Global Services Inc (NASDAQ:UNTK), Uni-Pixel Inc (NASDAQ:UNXL), Mecox Lane Ltd (NASDAQ:MCOX), Crumbs Bake Shop Inc (NASDAQ:CRMB), (NYSE:DGAZ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  AIRM $-8.130 -17.05% 179,293 40.09% 257,810 57.65% -78,517 -97
  UNTK $-0.180 -12.08% 102,769 49.26% 105,770 50.70% -3,001 -167
  UNXL $-5.720 -15.02% 1,785,301 46.90% 1,940,660 50.98% -155,359 -272
  MCOX $-1.290 -19.94% 108,294 47.03% 118,748 51.58% -10,454 -81
  CRMB $-0.230 -15.44% 43,814 35.81% 78,538 64.19% -34,724 -1,510
  DGAZ $-1.430 -14.58% 982,836 30.54% 1,328,943 41.29% -346,107 -2,420
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows AIRM with a dollar loss Thursday of $-8.13000 and a Friction Factor of -97 shares. That means that it only took 97 more shares of selling than buying to move AIRM lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
