April 16, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4018 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3471 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1769 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Life Partners Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:LPHI), Syntroleum Corp (NASDAQ:SYNM), Boston Private Financial Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:BPFH), MATTERSIGHT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:MATR), Comstock Holding Companies Inc (NASDAQ:CHCI), ECOtality Inc (NASDAQ:ECTY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  LPHI $0.500 16.78% 49,967 55.67% 39,795 44.33% 10,172 203
  SYNM $0.610 17.33% 74,740 57.57% 54,979 42.35% 19,761 324
  BPFH $1.490 15.83% 193,527 56.92% 140,359 41.28% 53,168 357
  MATR $0.960 23.59% 111,450 69.61% 48,553 30.33% 62,897 655
  CHCI $0.440 19.05% 321,815 55.31% 253,468 43.56% 68,347 1,553
  ECTY $0.320 33.31% 1,419,024 52.70% 1,273,500 47.30% 145,524 4,548
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows LPHI with a dollar gain Tuesday of $0.50000 and a Friction Factor of 203 shares. That means that it only took 203 more shares of buying than selling to move LPHI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
