March 26, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3885 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3090 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2278 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Stereotaxis Inc (NASDAQ:STXS), GMX Resources Inc (NYSE:GMXR), Gordmans Stores Inc (NASDAQ:GMAN), ZIOPHARM Oncology Inc (NASDAQ:ZIOP), PGT Inc (NASDAQ:PGTI), US Auto Parts Network Inc (NASDAQ:PRTS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  STXS $-0.420 -17.57% 510,262 41.75% 711,810 58.25% -201,548 -4,799
  GMXR $-0.350 -11.86% 281,734 31.42% 359,705 40.11% -77,971 -2,228
  GMAN $-2.170 -15.26% 528,356 48.87% 549,262 50.80% -20,906 -96
  ZIOP $-3.310 -64.52% 15,310,161 49.22% 15,685,475 50.42% -375,314 -1,134
  PGTI $-0.810 -11.63% 840,054 48.89% 840,602 48.92% -548 -7
  PRTS $-0.150 -12.82% 117,628 42.88% 156,681 57.12% -39,053 -2,604
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows STXS with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-0.42000 and a Friction Factor of -4,799 shares. That means that it only took 4,799 more shares of selling than buying to move STXS lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
