March 7, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4068 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3070 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2288 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Elan Corporation PLC (NYSE:ELN), Dell Inc (NASDAQ:DELL), Sirius XM Radio Inc (NASDAQ:SIRI), Vodafone Group PLC (NASDAQ:VOD), Ford Motor Co (NYSE:F), BG Group PLC (OTC:BRGYY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  ELN $-0.200 -1.72% 2,882,762 76.84% 1,200,911 32.01% 1,681,851 Abnormal
  DELL $-0.070 -0.49% 18,543,524 56.86% 14,230,109 43.63% 4,313,415 Abnormal
  SIRI $-0.020 -0.62% 24,123,995 56.73% 18,402,878 43.27% 5,721,117 Abnormal
  VOD $-0.050 -0.20% 9,359,999 55.74% 7,480,811 44.55% 1,879,188 Abnormal
  F $-0.070 -0.54% 10,439,112 37.76% 8,936,871 32.32% 1,502,241 Abnormal
  BRGYY $-0.030 -0.17% 1,601,319 94.08% 64,418 3.78% 1,536,901 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ELN with 1,681,851 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.20000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
