March 1, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3978 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2678 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2482 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. MGIC Investment Corp (NYSE:MTG), Deckers Outdoor Corp (NASDAQ:DECK), 1-800-Flowers.Com Inc (NASDAQ:FLWS), Prana Biotechnology Ltd (NASDAQ:PRAN), Alphatec Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:ATEC), Anacor Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:ANAC). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  MTG $0.840 28.19% 13,093,822 38.80% 11,423,389 33.85% 1,670,433 19,886
  DECK $6.210 15.37% 4,730,788 51.03% 4,318,133 46.57% 412,655 665
  FLWS $1.140 26.51% 148,010 70.20% 62,819 29.80% 85,191 747
  PRAN $0.330 15.64% 211,622 68.42% 97,659 31.58% 113,963 3,453
  ATEC $0.240 14.72% 256,805 52.96% 228,094 47.04% 28,711 1,196
  ANAC $0.570 16.33% 477,346 52.91% 421,982 46.78% 55,364 971
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MTG with a dollar gain Friday of $0.84000 and a Friction Factor of 19,886 shares. That means that it only took 19,886 more shares of buying than selling to move MTG higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
