February 27, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3942 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3560 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1802 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. CombiMatrix Corp (NASDAQ:CBMX), Cincinnati Bell Inc (NYSE:CBB), Ambow Education Holding Ltd (NYSE:AMBO), Prophase Labs Inc (NASDAQ:PRPH), World Energy Solutions Inc (NASDAQ:XWES), (OTC:EORBF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction CBMX $-1.340 -27.35% 512,474 43.66% 659,790 56.22% -147,316 -1,099 CBB $-0.930 -22.41% 15,136,688 25.10% 17,864,784 29.62% -2,728,096 -29,334 AMBO $-0.250 -16.03% 91,612 23.62% 183,177 47.24% -91,565 -3,663 PRPH $-0.450 -20.00% 34,988 45.87% 39,769 52.14% -4,781 -106 XWES $-0.650 -13.98% 36,093 38.00% 54,365 57.23% -18,272 -281 EORBF $-0.247 -12.66% 51,600 26.77% 104,400 54.17% -52,800 -2,142Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows CBMX with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-1.34000 and a Friction Factor of -1,099 shares. That means that it only took 1,099 more shares of selling than buying to move CBMX lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
