Market Maker Surveillance Report. END, CBMX, FRO, INT, GMXR, FREE, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Friday, Februa
February 22, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3775 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3639 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1946 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Endeavour International Corp (NYSE:END), CombiMatrix Corp (NASDAQ:CBMX), FRONTLINE LTD (NYSE:FRO), World Fuel Services Corp (NYSE:INT), GMX Resources Inc (NYSE:GMXR), FreeSeas Inc (NASDAQ:FREE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction END $-0.310 -10.40% 784,938 32.54% 1,047,070 43.40% -262,132 -8,456 CBMX $-1.560 -23.11% 2,183,615 47.71% 2,347,630 51.29% -164,015 -1,051 FRO $-0.390 -13.45% 1,075,282 36.69% 1,204,237 41.09% -128,955 -3,307 INT $-4.470 -10.16% 414,326 25.18% 514,379 31.26% -100,053 -224 GMXR $-0.380 -13.19% 168,524 26.69% 288,573 45.71% -120,049 -3,159 FREE $-0.140 -10.37% 45,636 38.33% 73,434 61.67% -27,798 -1,986Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows END with a dollar loss Friday of $-0.31000 and a Friction Factor of -8,456 shares. That means that it only took 8,456 more shares of selling than buying to move END lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
