February 21, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4014 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1704 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3708 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Parkervision Inc (NASDAQ:PRKR), NeuroMetrix Inc (NASDAQ:NURO), CombiMatrix Corp (NASDAQ:CBMX), Repros Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:RPRX), WSP Holdings Ltd (NYSE:WH), Alimera Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:ALIM). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  PRKR $1.780 73.25% 6,241,063 56.03% 4,831,655 43.38% 1,409,408 7,918
  NURO $0.680 29.20% 142,146 51.05% 135,472 48.66% 6,674 98
  CBMX $3.940 137.76% 5,864,242 53.21% 5,116,290 46.42% 747,952 1,898
  RPRX $2.510 24.66% 2,516,372 48.62% 2,366,755 45.73% 149,617 596
  WH $1.360 85.00% 109,650 21.86% 94,500 18.84% 15,150 111
  ALIM $0.650 24.81% 107,647 62.41% 64,733 37.53% 42,914 660
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows PRKR with a dollar gain Thursday of $1.78000 and a Friction Factor of 7,918 shares. That means that it only took 7,918 more shares of buying than selling to move PRKR higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
