February 21, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4014 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1704 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3708 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. BANK OF AMERICA CORPORATION (NYSE:BAC), Incyte Corp (NASDAQ:INCY), Forest Oil Corp (NYSE:FST), Metalore Resources Ltd (NYSE:MET), Micron Technology Inc (NASDAQ:MU), UNISOURCE CORP (OTC:USRC). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BAC $-0.380 -3.22% 86,019,062 37.04% 67,618,727 29.12% 18,400,335 Abnormal INCY $-0.220 -1.04% 3,447,456 81.04% 797,285 18.74% 2,650,171 Abnormal FST $-0.020 -0.33% 4,599,274 38.61% 2,909,886 24.43% 1,689,388 Abnormal MET $-0.640 -1.78% 5,112,402 44.42% 2,346,657 20.39% 2,765,745 Abnormal MU $-0.180 -2.22% 19,536,493 52.21% 17,548,342 46.89% 1,988,151 Abnormal USRC $-0.578 -82.56% 3,985,993 65.21% 1,984,825 32.47% 2,001,168 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BAC with 18,400,335 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.38000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
