February 19, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3840 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3574 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2220 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Robbins & Myers Inc (NYSE:RBN), WELLS FARGO & COMPANY (NYSE:WFC), JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:JPM), Arbor Realty Trust Inc (NYSE:ABR), MB FINANCIAL, INCORPORATION (NASDAQ:MBFI), Textron Inc (NYSE:TXT). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  RBN $0.390 0.66% 780,870 16.62% 2,595,335 55.23% -1,814,465 Abnormal
  WFC $0.010 0.02% 6,453,269 25.62% 8,755,903 34.76% -2,302,634 Abnormal
  JPM $0.580 1.19% 5,100,235 25.23% 7,488,382 37.04% -2,388,147 Abnormal
  ABR $0.190 2.47% 77,936 3.37% 2,174,469 93.95% -2,096,533 Abnormal
  MBFI $0.290 1.23% 869,644 16.27% 4,444,431 83.16% -3,574,787 Abnormal
  TXT $0.160 0.54% 604,481 11.66% 4,024,506 77.61% -3,420,025 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows RBN with 1,814,465 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.39000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
