February 13, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3926 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2845 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2433 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Comcast Corp (NASDAQ:CMCSA), Warner Chilcott PLC (NASDAQ:WCRX), Nexen Inc (NYSE:NXY), Cemex SAB de CV (NYSE:CX), Groupon Inc (NASDAQ:GRPN), Knight Capital Group Inc (NYSE:KCG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  CMCSA $1.160 2.98% 27,011,994 47.41% 28,781,369 50.52% -1,769,375 Abnormal
  WCRX $0.320 2.29% 4,117,160 40.69% 5,253,580 51.92% -1,136,420 Abnormal
  NXY $0.010 0.04% 2,209,709 30.50% 3,366,314 46.46% -1,156,605 Abnormal
  CX $0.150 1.43% 3,105,899 23.83% 6,038,536 46.33% -2,932,637 Abnormal
  GRPN $0.300 5.67% 12,419,324 46.54% 14,071,568 52.73% -1,652,244 Abnormal
  KCG $0.030 0.81% 1,216,506 19.53% 3,231,928 51.88% -2,015,422 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Wednesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CMCSA with 1,769,375 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $1.16000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
