February 11, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4076 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2402 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2931 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Monday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. MFA FINANCIAL INCORPORATED (NYSE:MFA), Activision Blizzard Inc (NASDAQ:ATVI), Alcatel Lucent SA (NYSE:ALU), IMD COS INC (OTC:ICBU), Li & Fung Ltd (OTC:LFUGY), Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  MFA $-0.010 -0.08% 1,865,649 27.63% 3,163,085 46.84% -1,297,436 -1,297,436
  ATVI $-0.020 -0.12% 12,025,807 45.10% 13,951,599 52.33% -1,925,792 -962,896
  ALU $-0.020 -1.20% 2,528,059 23.41% 4,227,878 39.16% -1,699,819 -849,910
  ICBU $-0.013 -27.51% 136,444 8.72% 1,428,438 91.28% -1,291,994 -1,001,546
  LFUGY $-0.150 -5.77% 310,287 15.04% 1,872,308 90.74% -1,562,021 -104,135
  FB $-0.690 -2.40% 17,189,321 47.84% 18,588,484 51.73% -1,399,163 -20,278
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MFA down $-0.01000 with a Friction Factor of -1,297,436 and a Net Volume of -1,297,436. That means that it takes 1,297,436 more shares of selling than buying to drop MFA by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
