January 28, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3940 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2696 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3035 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. 3D SYSTEMS CORPORATION (NYSE:DDD), Torm A/S (NASDAQ:TRMD), Goldfield Corp (AMEX:GV), Novogen Ltd (NASDAQ:NVGN), Repros Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:RPRX), (NYSE:UGAZ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  DDD $-9.570 -0.14% 3,600,635 32.98% 3,828,883 35.07% -228,248 -239
  TRMD $-0.690 -0.17% 28,202 41.22% 29,725 43.45% -1,523 -22
  GV $-0.430 -0.14% 375,070 25.61% 664,506 45.36% -289,436 -6,731
  NVGN $-3.710 -0.61% 79,110 39.82% 117,414 59.11% -38,304 -103
  RPRX $-7.510 -0.40% 3,479,239 47.66% 3,753,042 51.41% -273,803 -365
  UGAZ $-3.340 -0.14% 313,302 37.20% 319,495 37.94% -6,193 -19
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DDD with a dollar loss Monday of $-9.57000 and a Friction Factor of -239 shares. That means that it only took 239 more shares of selling than buying to move DDD lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
