January 23, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 4107 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2545 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2780 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:NFLX), International Lottery and Totalizator Systems Inc (OTC:ITSI), HMN Financial Inc (NASDAQ:HMNF), MAP Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:MAPP), PAN ORIENT ENERGY CORP (OTC:POEFF), Silicom Ltd (NASDAQ:SILC). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  NFLX $32.170 0.33% 4,324,962 52.95% 3,791,285 46.41% 533,677 166
  ITSI $0.350 0.42% 50,181 31.34% 26,297 16.42% 23,884 682
  HMNF $1.330 0.39% 59,798 54.66% 44,593 40.76% 15,205 114
  MAPP $9.130 0.59% 23,187,318 50.48% 22,748,819 49.52% 438,499 480
  POEFF $0.659 0.19% 96,281 54.46% 50,200 28.40% 46,081 699
  SILC $3.860 0.20% 183,859 53.78% 147,674 43.20% 36,185 94
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows NFLX with a dollar gain Wednesday of $32.17000 and a Friction Factor of 166 shares. That means that it only took 166 more shares of buying than selling to move NFLX higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
