January 15, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4029 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2862 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2517 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Tuesday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Micron Technology Inc (NASDAQ:MU), DryShips Inc (NASDAQ:DRYS), Sprint Nextel Corp (NYSE:S), RESEARCH IN MOTION (NASDAQ:RIMM), (OTC:UGHS), Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  MU $-0.080 -1.00% 9,708,886 46.85% 10,991,072 53.03% -1,282,186 -160,273
  DRYS $-0.150 -7.11% 2,387,859 37.20% 4,028,877 62.77% -1,641,018 -109,401
  S $-0.070 -1.23% 13,701,757 25.63% 23,948,834 44.80% -10,247,077 -1,463,868
  RIMM $-0.480 -3.21% 28,170,894 47.78% 30,509,541 51.75% -2,338,647 -48,722
  UGHS $-0.020 -5.26% 206,858 9.63% 1,967,067 91.54% -1,760,209 -880,105
  FB $-0.220 -0.73% 84,727,383 49.05% 86,523,295 50.09% -1,795,912 -81,632
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MU down $-0.08000 with a Friction Factor of -160,273 and a Net Volume of -1,282,186. That means that it takes 160,273 more shares of selling than buying to drop MU by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
