January 4, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3890 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3607 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1742 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Friday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Tellabs Inc (NASDAQ:TLAB), Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd (NYSE:TSM), General Growth Properties Inc (NYSE:GGP), Atmel Corp (NASDAQ:ATML), Focus Media Holding Ltd (NASDAQ:FMCN), Vringo Inc (AMEX:VRNG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  TLAB $-0.020 -0.88% 2,491,258 42.24% 3,396,287 57.58% -905,029 -452,515
  TSM $-0.080 -0.43% 2,220,509 30.07% 3,239,069 43.86% -1,018,560 -127,320
  GGP $-0.150 -0.79% 2,503,960 27.80% 3,984,959 44.24% -1,480,999 -98,733
  ATML $-0.150 -2.14% 3,761,787 34.28% 7,206,372 65.68% -3,444,585 -229,639
  FMCN $-0.020 -0.08% 1,029,942 35.70% 1,854,047 64.27% -824,105 -412,053
  VRNG $-0.170 -4.86% 3,205,800 33.02% 3,979,044 40.99% -773,244 -45,485
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows TLAB down $-0.02000 with a Friction Factor of -452,515 and a Net Volume of -905,029. That means that it takes 452,515 more shares of selling than buying to drop TLAB by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
