January 4, 2013 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3890 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3607 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1742 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Pfizer Inc (NYSE:PFE), Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS), AT&T Inc (NYSE:T), A.P. Pharma Inc (OTC:APPA), Textron Inc (NYSE:TXT), Groupon Inc (NASDAQ:GRPN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  PFE $0.030 0.12% 7,510,397 26.29% 9,827,726 34.41% -2,317,329 Abnormal
  MS $0.360 1.83% 8,540,686 26.80% 11,356,262 35.64% -2,815,576 Abnormal
  T $0.200 0.57% 6,090,723 28.90% 7,999,280 37.96% -1,908,557 Abnormal
  APPA $0.042 7.53% 1,085,511 22.56% 3,725,783 77.44% -2,640,272 Abnormal
  TXT $0.540 2.10% 1,084,444 21.36% 2,705,761 53.30% -1,621,317 Abnormal
  GRPN $0.160 3.13% 6,150,691 43.91% 7,855,785 56.09% -1,705,094 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Friday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows PFE with 2,317,329 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.03000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
