December 31, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4098 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4476 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1657 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Capital Trust Inc (NYSE:CT), NCI Inc (NASDAQ:NCIT), SOLOMON GOLD CORP (NASDAQ:SGOC), dELiA*s Inc (NASDAQ:DLIA), VisionChina Media Inc (NASDAQ:VISN), Meru Networks Inc (NASDAQ:MERU). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  CT $-0.170 -7.49% 43,721 20.69% 72,783 34.44% -29,062 -1,710
  NCIT $-0.520 -9.98% 102,069 10.00% 479,016 46.94% -376,947 -7,249
  SGOC $-0.100 -8.42% 27,581 38.99% 43,164 61.01% -15,583 -1,558
  DLIA $-0.100 -7.87% 32,989 32.02% 34,273 33.27% -1,284 -128
  VISN $-0.340 -9.86% 50,582 13.26% 330,698 86.71% -280,116 -8,239
  MERU $-0.210 -7.34% 47,664 36.17% 75,731 57.46% -28,067 -1,337
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CT with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.17000 and a Friction Factor of -1,710 shares. That means that it only took 1,710 more shares of selling than buying to move CT lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
