December 21, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4158 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2002 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3683 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Chembio Diagnostics Inc (NASDAQ:CEMI), Smith Micro Software Inc (NASDAQ:SMSI), Sernova Corp (NASDAQ:SVA), Halozyme Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:HALO), Lucas Energy Inc (AMEX:LEI), Cellceutix Corp (OTC:CTIX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  CEMI $0.670 14.57% 489,461 50.92% 469,697 48.86% 19,764 295
  SMSI $0.300 19.61% 147,843 51.83% 97,255 34.09% 50,588 1,686
  SVA $0.470 16.73% 298,673 67.78% 141,602 32.13% 157,071 3,342
  HALO $1.490 26.99% 5,047,641 56.00% 3,887,364 43.13% 1,160,277 7,787
  LEI $0.160 14.55% 130,005 32.38% 112,308 27.98% 17,697 1,106
  CTIX $0.310 19.62% 571,763 46.63% 456,946 37.27% 114,817 3,704
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CEMI with a dollar gain Friday of $0.67000 and a Friction Factor of 295 shares. That means that it only took 295 more shares of buying than selling to move CEMI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
