December 20, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3965 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3242 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2420 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Rite Aid Corp (NYSE:RAD), Dynatronics Corp (NASDAQ:DYNT), Ampal-American Israel Corp (NASDAQ:AMPL), China Precision Steel Inc (NASDAQ:CPSL), NYSE Euronext (NYSE:NYX), Sequans Communications SA (NYSE:SQNS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  RAD $0.170 16.35% 20,699,329 37.41% 18,158,167 32.81% 2,541,162 149,480
  DYNT $0.510 16.61% 332,620 49.79% 327,027 48.96% 5,593 110
  AMPL $1.470 69.01% 276,247 52.27% 240,923 45.58% 35,324 240
  CPSL $0.280 15.61% 48,392 58.20% 34,551 41.56% 13,841 494
  NYX $8.070 33.56% 24,082,052 28.09% 23,959,414 27.95% 122,638 152
  SQNS $0.430 18.86% 151,530 38.27% 93,369 23.58% 58,161 1,353
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows RAD with a dollar gain Thursday of $0.17000 and a Friction Factor of 149,480 shares. That means that it only took 149,480 more shares of buying than selling to move RAD higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
