December 13, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3926 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2066 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3800 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Thursday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. DELTA AIR LINES INC (NYSE:DAL), Applied DNA Sciences Inc (OTC:APDN), JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:JPM), Vale SA (NYSE:VALE), Vantage Drilling Co (AMEX:VTG), Itau Unibanco Holding SA (NYSE:ITUB). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction DAL $0.570 5.32% 7,522,563 37.18% 5,852,352 28.93% 1,670,211 29,302 APDN $0.035 13.83% 9,585,945 54.90% 7,826,938 44.82% 1,759,007 502,573 JPM $0.050 0.12% 6,168,569 33.67% 5,246,291 28.64% 922,278 184,456 VALE $0.180 0.96% 7,492,308 37.15% 5,794,670 28.74% 1,697,638 94,313 VTG $0.010 0.58% 3,384,318 89.24% 126,677 3.34% 3,257,641 3,257,641 ITUB $0.010 0.09% 3,742,392 34.96% 2,756,905 25.76% 985,487 985,487Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows DAL with a Net Buy Volume of 1,670,211 shares and a Friction Factor of 29,302 shares. That means that it takes 29,302 more shares of buying than selling to move DAL higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Thursday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
